Why have an automatic gate system?

How do I choose the best system for my needs?

The important points to consider are:
               

• Will the gate swing or slide open
• How wide / tall is each gate leaf
• Is the gate an open design or a filled in solid design
• Are the gates situated in a windy area
• What is the gate made from and what is its weight
• Where is the nearest power supply
• What room do you have around the gate hinges and posts
• Do you want the automation to be concealed (underground)
• Would you prefer an electromechanical or a hydraulic system
• What control devices do you want to use and will an intercom be used

Electromechanical or Hydraulic?

The first company to produce a range of gate automation was FAAC srl. They specialised in hydraulic systems, producing a high quality range of motors. As the market grew other companies such as SEA and BFT joined the industry producing alternative hydraulic equipment and others such as CAME started producing cost effective electromechanical operators. 
The hydraulic systems are still known to be more reliable, with a longer life expectancy and heavier duty cycles. However, improvements in electromechanical manufacturing techniques have made this type of operator a very cost effective alternative, ideal for most domestic and some commercial installations.

Can I adjust the security level to suit the time of day?

Many people programme their gates to give greater ease of access during the day and increased security at night. In fact your system can be tailored to suit your individual needs by using carefully selected controls and accessories.

How reliable are gate automation systems?

Automation systems are extremely reliable but time must be spent at the planning stage to ensure that the user needs are accommodated.

Are Automatic gates safe?

The system can then be designed to protect people, animals and vehicles by including safety features such as photocells, induction loops or safety edges.
