Wireless Intercoms

Wireless Intercom Systems

Wireless Intercoms used to be the only type of intercom to send signals without the need for wires. More recently the rise of GSM systems has challenged this, however wireless systems still have an important role for sites with poor reception or as a low cost alternative to a GSM system. Two major improvements that have come to wireless intercoms over recent years are the addition of a wireless Video intercom and the switch from analogue signals to digital signals which are less prone to interference. Wireless systems are limited by two main factors. They struggle to penetrate walls, if the house that wants to use the intercom is behind another house, or if the property is very large a wireless intercom might struggle. The other limiting factor is the range, most wireless systems will work very well up to 100m and can work up to 250m plus depending on the site. A few examples of wireless intercoms can be seen below.
